Inspiration: I saw someone say they love to draw in Kidpix and MS Paint for Windows XP (or 98 or something). I have a link to a desktop Kidpix, so I tried to draw in it, and felt miserable. I did not like it. Well, I wasn't going to go hunting for an older version of Paint even though I'm sure it's easy to obtain when I already have Paint on my computer. Yea, using modern Paint doesn't earn you street cred like older versions do, but I remembered this latest version has LAYERS, soooo

I drew peepee to test it out. You can't change layer opacity, so it's a little tricky for me to do lines (well, maybe i shouldn't have done the sketch in black-), but I do like that since it feels less serious than CSP I feel somehow more free using it. Weird. And the craziest thing is the crayon tool looks so bad, but when you use it to color it's actually really good, and combined with the eyedropper tool you can do some great blending!

The biggest problem is that you can't save the layers. Now, you could save a drawing and then just draw over it again later, but it's kinda crunchy looking now and I thought it'd be too obvious what's new and what's old. I had to stop mid-drawing to take a nap, and I can't nap with my computer on because the fan is loud as fuck. So yea, the drawing has many mistakes that I'm aware of, but I was SOOOO tired. You will take Felix and his uneven-ass boobs and you will like it. I like the doodle even despite the mistakes... I wonder what emotion that is that I drew on his face.

Something about this doesn't sit right with me already. I don't like it. But dammit, I had to draw it.

~4 years ago I redrew a redraw of a screenshot from hit anime Inuyasha, and I thought "I should do this again in 4 years!" I somehow remembered my promise to myself, but I was lazy and didn't start until this month. I spent 3 weeks on what was, in total, maybe a 5-hour drawing? And I don't even like it. Honestly, the background I painted 4 years ago was better, but I probably spent more time on it. I lost interest in making this look very good... I'd much rather be drawing a more current fave, not a groomer. ("But Clavis and Angelique-" ssshhhh) I felt like I was being tortured towards the end, and when I realized "Well I'm not having fun anymore so this isn't for me, and it's not like I have fans so this isn't for them either," I decided to stop trying and just finish it badly. Badly finished is better than a WIP that was so close to being done.

Top left: The screenshot

Top right: The original redraw. Notice how it's monochromatic? That's because I wanted it to be a quick little thing. I should've kept it that way. Maybe if I redraw this in 2028 I'll use a monochromatic palette.

Bottom left: His face is soo fucked bro, I can't believe i shared this online, especially after my Cure whip Illustration (which I still think is goated). I really thought I ate......... @Past me, get real

Bottom right: You already know how I feel about this one. Although I don't like it, it shows definite improvement over the old one, and that's good enough for me.

After spending more than a little time looking for a good o-egaki type thing outside of someone's forum or a site that requires siteup, right when I had resigned and decided I'd just have to stick with MS Paint, someone on Dreamwidth just happened to drop the link for this little program. Crazy how the world works, isn't it?

I really like this site; the only flaw is sometimes when I draw there's like... cursorprints left behind my cursor as I draw, but it goes away when I lift the pen. Not a huge deal though.

I really love the... dither? Pixel? Brush. I didn't even take that in consideration for looking for a program, but it's really really really great.

Well, now that I have a good program, I must move to phase 2: perfecting my imitation of 00s moe anime girls. (Less shaky lines would probably help, lol.)
